happy weekend, MRI, trip, giveaway

2012 May 12

So many things are happening and like all busy moms, I couldn’t keep up.  There are tons of errands and chores to do (if you still don’t know yet, I don’t have a maid which is uncommon here in Manila) and there’s our upcoming trip out of the country so I have to do all of them under time pressure.

And more NEGA news, I’m sick.  Imagine that.  The left side of my face is numb.  It’s like half of my face was injected with anesthesia.  Of course, my doctor says it’s a neurological symptom of a bigger thing of which he couldn’t yet pinpoint.  I passed every single bit of neurological tests he performed on me.  So I have to undergo MRI for him to diagnose better and see what my brain and nerves are up to these days.  And we’re both hoping we find nothing.  Or at least, nothing out of the ordinary.

So I’ve scheduled the MRI after our trip along with so many other pending to-dos.  Anyway, I’m telling you all this (against my wish, of course, as I don’t want to burden my readers with problems and rants)  because I won’t be able to announce the winners of my giveaway on the 15th.  Please bear with me and I promise to be over and done with the announcement before the school year starts.

Happy weekend to you all.

One of my favorites…and there’s more of this where we’re going…=)

The Best Reasons to Shop Online

2012 May 6

Shopping online has some obvious benefits, such as avoiding annoying retail lines and the ability to shop at midnight in your pajamas, but it also has some other, less-obvious advantages. Below are additional reasons to leave your sedan or SUV parked and check out online deals instead.

Reading Reviews

One of the biggest advantages to buying online is knowing that you will be satisfied with the product that you spend your hard-earned dollars on. When browsing online, potentials buyers can check the quality of the items they purchase by researching the previous buyers’ satisfaction with the product. Most websites now have a “comments” or “user reviews” feature that lets people complain or rave about anything from the durability of the item to the shipping time. This can be especially helpful if you know what type of item you are purchasing, but you need help deciding on a particular brand or style of an item. It may take a bit of extra time, but you will end up saving yourself a lot of extra hassle and money when you don’t have to return an item or keep a product that you are not satisfied with.

Saving Money

After you read some great reviews and choose which product and brand you want to buy, you can save yourself some money by checking out a few online retailers and comparing prices. Additionally, savvy shoppers can save cash by Googling “coupon codes” for various online merchants. Often, you can find discounts of 10 to 20 percent combined with free shipping. This will usually make prices cheaper than the deals that can be found in stores. While stores sometimes mail coupons for consumers to use at a particular location, people are much more likely to search for coupon codes when checking out online than they are to remember to cut out a coupon, check the expiration date, and bring it into the store to redeem it. Also, if you find a good deal for free shipping, you can save yourself from paying the increasingly hefty price of a gallon of gas.

Convenient Shipping

For large or heavy items, shipping can be a major perk. Instead of driving to a location, finding someone to load it in the car and then getting help unloading it after returning home, you can order an item online and have it delivered right to your door. Sometimes, delivery drivers will even be willing to bring your purchase inside for you. This can be a major advantage to those living alone who otherwise wouldn’t have much help picking up an item from a store. This can also be a huge timesaver for busy individuals or those on a tight deadlines.

Organized Receipts

Another advantage of shopping online is the elimination of paper receipts. Most online stores will email a receipt either after purchasing an item or after shipping. This can be awesome if you are trying to save your receipts in order to keep better track of your finances. It can also be helpful if you are self-employed or working for a business that lets you declare deductions. You can learn more business tips by taking business school classes. Start saving all your receipts in a tax folder on your hard drive, and consider getting rid of that old receipt-filled shoebox.

Have a great week ahead, everyone. It cooled down a bit in our side of the world. Thank goodness, summer’s almost over.

a quick post

Just a quick post before I take my afternoon nap.  You see, I had to turn my sleeping hours around.  It’s crazy.  Blogging and online stuff have robbed me of precious hours of sleep at night and it’s beginning to show.  But what’s even more crazy is at the end of the day, I still find myself getting only a few things done.  Why?  I don’t know.  It’s not like I’m glued to Facebook or use skype and this web conferencing service 24/7.  Ok I admit, most of the time I’m just staring at my computer and waiting for ideas and inspiration to come.  But when nothing comes, I turn to Facebook.  So there.  No to FB for me this week until I get all my work done.  Well, good luck with that.

I won a trip to Singapore. And I can’t wait to visit Sentosa again next year. If I had known I’d win a free trip here, I wouldn’t have booked a flight to Singapore this November. But still, I’m one lucky old hag.  And guess what?  My lucky streak didn’t end there coz I also won the Hello Spring $800 Cash Giveaway!!!!

Who says one can’t have it all, yes?!!!

Happy Weekend, everyone.
